I just posted my updated top recruits from the Greater New Orleans Metro area this week, and Hahnville’s Jha’Quan Jackson was listed as my 16th best player. He has been saying that SMU was his leader and he just made it official as a pledge for the 2019 class.

Jackson becomes the first commitment for SMU for the upcoming signing class.

The 5-10, 175 pounder with 4.5 speed plays quarterback at Hahnville, but his future is likely at wide receiver for the pass-happy Mustangs. He fielded offers from Arkansas, Tulane, North Texas, ULL, La. Tech, ULM, Southern Miss, Navy, Western Kentucky, New Mexico State, Houston, Kentucky, UAB, McNeese, Nicholls and Toledo.

Jackson helped the Hahnville Tigers achieve a 12-3 mark and a spot in the Class 5A title game against Zachary last season. He is a game changer, gifted as an open-field runner who demonstrates the ability to cut at full speed.
