Louisiana’s top cover cornerback in the 2024 recruiting class has switched commitments.

John Ehret’s Wardell Mack is now pledged to the Texas Longhorns after previously committing to Florida.

The third ranked player overall in Louisiana first made an announcement in favor of the Gators on August 14 but now becomes the 20th overall pledge for the Texas 2024 class.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Mack is capable of lining up at either corner or safety. He has posted a 4.58 40-time and a 38″ vertical.

LSU has assigned Frank Wilson, Robert Steeples and Kerry Cooks to continue to monitor Mack until signing day.

The Gators were beaten by LSU on Saturday night to fall to 5-5 with a third straight defeat. The seat may beginning to heat up for second-year Florida coach Billy Napier.
