A player LSU highly covets for the 2019 class, Destrehan running back John Emery, Jr. is now in the fold for the Tigers.

Emery announced his intentions Tuesday night on Twitter:

Initially pledging to Georgia, he backed off of that verbal two weeks ago. LSU now sits at 20 pledges for the upcoming class. Tigers assistants Mickey Joseph and Tommie Robinson collaborated on his recruitment.

Emery, the 5-foot-11, 206 pounder, a 4.42 forty with a 38″ vertical, represents a tremendous addition for the Purple and Gold. He is the second rated running back in the nation and the No. 2 overall prospect in Louisiana.

Playing a position of need for LSU, Emery is someone who could contribute immediately. He has super vision and cane be a workhorse type who gets the “dirty yards” as wekk. He keeps his legs churning and gets much of his yardage following contact. He likens his style to Le’Veon Bell (that is, when Bell is playing ).

Destrehan has produced many players that have continued to experience success in college football and beyond including Rondell Mealey, Ed Reed, Damaris Johnson, Jordan Jefferson, Rickey Jefferson, Glen Logan and Justin Jefferson at LSU.

Despite the addition of Emery, LSU is in good shape with another top ranked running back for 2019. The Tigers want to add IMG Academy product Noah Cain (5-11, 212), ranked as the seventh best back in this class.
