Florida head coach Billy Napier knows that the Pelican state produces a plethora of talent, having been the head coach at Louisiana for a successful run with the Ragin’ Cajuns. He returned to familiar soil to secure a commitment from De La Salle offensive tackle Caden Jones.

The 6-foot-8, 325-pound four-star recruit is rated the third best tackle in the state and the 14th overall best prospect for 2023. He represents the 20th commitment for the Gators for the 2023 cycle.

Jones made his pledge official this week while he participates in the All American Bowl festivities in San Antonio, Texas. He narrowed his final choices to Florida, Texas A&M and Houston. Jones visited all three during the month of December including Florida on Dec. 10, A&M on Dec. 16 and UH on December 2.

His uncle Marcus Jasmine played at De La Salle before a successful career at Texas A&M followed by time in the NFL as a defensive tackle.

Jones has concentrated on getting stronger and improving his flexibility. He has the ability to pull and get to the second level as a lead blocker with his massive frame. His basketball background has aided in the overall maturation process. Jones also gained a little nastiness to his attitude during his senior campaign with the run-heavy Cavaliers.
