The building of LSU’s 2021 recruiting class continues to gain steam.

The Tigers grabbed their first running back commitment Monday when four-star talent Corey Kiner from Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio pledged to the Purple and Gold.

Kiner considered offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Louisville, Wisconsin, USC, Texas A&M, Florida, Cincinnati, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Tennessee, South Carolina and Michigan State. He is scheduled to visit Louisville on May 29.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Kiner holds a 3.23 GPA. He grabbed national attention this past season after rushing for 323 yards and scoring eight touchdowns in a single game, a 58-32 win over Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. On the season, he totaled 2,298 yards and 40 touchdowns. Kiner has tallied 5,264 rushing yards, 81 touchdowns and 6,150 career all-purpose yards in his prep career to date.

Not considered a blazing speedster, Kiner has enough afterburner to leave would be tacklers in his wake. He possesses outstanding vision, quick feet and great balance but Kiner will lower the shoulder when challenging a defender. He is strong enough to shrug off arm tackles. His kick and punt return skills are an added bonus.

If he signs with LSU, Kiner would become the first running back signed by the program from the Cincinnati area since Spencer Ware in 2010.
