The 6-foot, 184 pounder has the skills to play either cornerback or safety. As a 3 star prospect, Turner fielded offers from Ga. Tech, Penn State, Tennessee, Baylor, Houston, La. Tech, Southern Miss, Tulane, Texas Tech, Virginia, Memphis, Nicholls ans South Alabama.
Turner visited the Tech campus in Atlanta twice within the past few weeks. He developed a strong bond with the coaching staff, in particular defensive backs coach Geoff Collins.
Currently, the Yellow Jackets have some local flavor on the defense. Starting senior strong safety Christian Campbell played quarterback at Ponchatoula. A pair of former Brother Martin standouts, linebacker Bruce Jordan-Swilling and starting cornerback Tre’ Swilling, helped in the process. Tre Swilling paced the ‘Jackets defense with six pass breakups last fall.
Turner, who represents the 15th overall commit for Tech, is good in coverage, solid open field tackler, is a playmaker who transitions well out of back pedal. He makes good breaks on the ball and looks to deliver hard hits to receivers following the catch. Turner has run a 4.48 forty.
