John Curtis specialist Austin McCready has committed to the Memphis Tigers, becoming the 15th member of their 2020 class.

Both a punter and place kicker at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, McCready possesses a strong leg. He squats 325 pounds and carries both a 3.6 GPA and 23 on the ACT.

The outstanding athlete also served as a backup quarterback on the Patriots to four-year starter and Army West Point signee Collin Guggenheim.

Because of his versatility, McCready reminds many of former Curtis and LSU multi-sport standout Chris Jackson, who also played quarterback and kicked for the Patriots before kicking and playing baseball for the Tigers.

McCready drew interest from LSU, Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina and Florida State. He attended the Hammer Kicking Academy.

Memphis has two other Louisiana products, Zachary QB Keilon Brown and St. Augustine WR Khi Mathieu, in its 2020 recruiting class.
