Dowling Catholic (West Des Moines, Iowa) quarterback Jaxon Smolik committed to Tulane in late June.

His visibility as a 2023 recruit has only expanded since then.

With more and more power programs showing interest in him, Smolik has decided to decommit from the Green Wave.

Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Penn State are among the FBS programs whonow have him in their radar. Tulane was his first FBS offer.

Smolik is experienced in a RPO-based offense, although he missed a large portion of his junior season with a broken collarbone.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pounder played running back before varsity and timed previously at 4.62 in the 40-yard dash. He has dual-threat ability.

Adept at throwing on the move after breaking containment, Smolik feels pressure but keeps his eyes downfield. He immediately recognizes holes in the secondary. He has an over-the-top delivery. His evaluation grades him highest in the decision making, quick release, poise, accuracy and pocket presence categories. Smolik also has a 3.8 GPA.
