LSU gained their second pledge for the 2021 class when West Monroe punter Peyton Todd verbally pledged Thursday to the Purple and Gold. Assistant coach special teams Greg McMahon has handled the recruiting responsibilities for Tigers.

Todd is considered the top punting prospect in the country in the ’21 class.

The 6-foot-5, 210 pounder averaged 42 yards per punt as a sophomore in 2018. Twenty of his punts were downed inside the opponents’ 20 yard line. Possessing a powerful leg, Todd has already been named the Ray Guy top prospect on two occasions by Prokicker.com.

With instruction from Prokicker.com, he averaged 47 yards per punt with hang time averages between 4.31-4.76 seconds. Todd first competed in that camp in the summer following his freshman season. The Prokicker camp usually only invites juniors and seniors, showing the potential seen in Todd, who also had a good showing at the prestigious Kohl’s professional kicking camp.

The timing of Todd’s expected arrival appears to eb ideal for LSU. Current punter Zach Von Rosenberg will graduate following the 2020 campaign.
