Ragin’ Cajuns step out of conference play to face Florida State

Louisiana and FSU battle on the gridiron at 11 a.m. Saturday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Louisiana football hits the road as it steps out of conference play to take on the No. 19 Florida State Seminoles on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The game can be seen on ACC RSN and Watch ESPN with Tom Werme, James Bates and Wiley Ballard on the call. Additionally, fans can listen to the game worldwide on the Varsity Network, Hot 107.9 FM and ESPN 1420 AM with Jay Walker (pbp), Gerald Broussard (color) and Cody Junot (sideline) on the call. The Ragin’ Cajuns (5-5, 3-4 SBC) are looking to become bowl eligible for a school-record fifth-consecutive season. UL is coming off a 36-17 victory over Georgia Southern on Nov. 10 that saw Kenneth Almendares hit all five of his field goal attempts, tying the school record. For his efforts, he was named the Sun Belt and Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Special Teams Player of the Week.

Louisiana enters the weekend tied for sixth among FBS schools with 14 interceptions on the season. Eleven different Ragin’ Cajuns have recorded a pick this season, the most of any team in the country. The defense has forced 21 turnovers, which ranks tied for ninth nationally.

Bralen Trahan has been a ballhawk for the Ragin’ Cajuns defense as the senior has four interceptions on the season. His four picks are tied for 10th in the FBS. For his career, Trahan has 13 interceptions, which is tied for the most among career active leaders in FBS and ranks fourth all-time in Louisiana history.

Florida State (7-3, 5-3 ACC) enters the game ranked 19th in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and are coming off a 38-3 win at Syracuse. The Seminoles are on a three-game win streak in which they are outscoring their opponents by an average score of 41.3-7.3.

Saturday’s meeting is the first all-time between the two schools.
