CAJUNS AND GREEN WAVE SPLIT LSWA POW HONORS

BATON ROUGE – Here are the capsules for this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week honors announced on Monday:

OFFENSE (TIE)
LEVI LEWIS – QB, Louisiana
A huge part of Louisiana’s offense on Saturday, throwing for 252 yards against South Alabama…Finished the contest 21-for-31 and season-high three touchdown passes, just the fourth time in his career he has thrown three touchdowns in a single game…Louisiana is now 14-1 when Lewis passes for two or more scores in a game…With his 252 yards through the air, Lewis passed Terrance Broadway for the most 250+ passing games in the last 20 years with nine…Lewis currently leads the Sun Belt Conference with 1,880 passing yards, while his 13 touchdowns is tied for second in the league.

MICHAEL PRATT – QB, Tulane
Tulane University quarterback Michael Pratt continued to develop as the Green Wave’s starter. The true freshman signal-caller threw for 197 yards through the air and toss a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Green Wave to a convincing 38-12 victory over nationally-ranked Army. Tulane’s win over Army was its first over a ranked opponent in 36 years. Pratt finished the afternoon by completing a season-best 70 percent of his passes, as he went 19-of-27 through the air.

DEFENSE
PERCY BUTLER – S, Louisiana
Butler was all over the field for Louisiana’s defense on Saturday against South Alabama, leading the team with six total tackles to go along with 1.0 sack, 1.0 tackle-for-loss, an interception and a forced fumble…He is currently one of four players in the nation who have recorded an interception, sack and forced fumble in the same game…The sack and interception were the first of his career, while the forced fumble was his second of the season and fifth of his career…He is now tied for second in the league with his two forced fumbles this year.
