NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans women’s basketball team got a fifth consecutive double-digit scoring output from DeArica Pryor but it wasn’t enough as the Privateers were defeated 75-47 by the Northwestern State Lady Demons on Saturday at the Lakefront Arena.

The Lady Demons hit a late first quarter spurt that grew their lead to eight by the end of the first ten minutes of play. From there, Northwestern State continued to apply the pressure as they shot 46 percent offensively and forced 26 turnovers.

Northwestern State also went to the free throw line 30 times and led for the entire game after scoring the first points 27 seconds into the contest.

Pryor went for double figures in a fifth straight game, scoring 14. Pryor also led the team in steals with three. Zoe Cooper had a team-best seven rebounds and added six points. Nahja Scott also finished with six points.

The Privateers had just 13 free throw attempts but they converted 10 of those trips to the charity stripe on the day.

The Privateers start a four-game road trip next Thursday when they travel to Houston to face HBU.
