Privateers projected by D1baseball to play in Ruston for NCAA regionals
NEW ORLEANS – The latest D1Baseball projections for the NCAA Tournament field of 64 have the New Orleans Privateers headed to the northeast part of the state where they would face the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in Ruston.
The Privateers enter the weekend first on points in the Southland standings at 60. They have a Southland record of 20-12 heading into their weekend series against Central Arkansas which starts on Friday at Maestri Field.
New Orleans leads Southeastern who is in second on points with 54. The Lions have a home series against Nicholls. In third is Sam Houston with 53 points entering the weekend. Then it’s Northwestern State in fourth with 48 points.
The month of April wrapped up with the Privateers going 11-6. The squad has two conference weekends left (Central Arkansas and at Lamar).
In Southland play, New Orleans has led all teams with a .311 batting average. The team also has an on-base percentage (.404) that paces the conference. They also lead the Southland in runs, hits and doubles heading into the weekend.
Friday’s game will be broadcast on NASH Icon 106.1 FM. All games this weekend will also be carried on the Privateer Sports Network.
