RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech football (1-2, 0-0 C-USA) opens Conference USA play this week by hosting North Texas (1-2, 0-1 C-USA) on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. CT, inside Joe Aillet Stadium.

ABOUT LA TECH (1-2, 0-0 C-USA)

All three of Louisiana Tech’s games in the 2021 campaign have gone down to the wire as each contest has been decided by three points or less. LA Tech earned its first win of the season with a 45-42 victory over Southeastern in Tech’s home opener.

Freshman linebacker Tyler Grubbs and senior linebacker Ezekiel Barnett became the first Bulldogs to record double-digit tackles in a game this season with 13 and 10 stops, respectively, against SMU. Grubbs’ 13 tackles marked the second most in his career while Barnett’s 10 tied his career best. Graduate quarterback Austin Kendall had his best game of the 2021 campaign against SMU after completing 24-of-39 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns. Kendall also rushed for 20 yards and one touchdown against the Mustangs.

Head coach Skip Holtz is in his ninth season at the helm of the LA Tech football program. Holtz has led Tech to seven straight bowl games and earned his 150th career win as a FBS head coach in the 45-42 victory over Southeastern on Sept. 11.

ABOUT NORTH TEXAS (1-2, 0-1 C-USA)

North Texas won its season opener against Northwestern State, 44-14, before losing its next two contests, 35-12, at SMU and, 40-6, against UAB. UNT senior running back DeAndre Torrey ranks seventh in the nation and first in C-USA in all-purpose yards per game (162.3). His 320 all-purpose yards in the season-opener versus Northwestern State ranks second in the nation for most single game all-purpose yards this year.

Head coach Seth Littrell is in his sixth season at the helm of the North Texas program where he has accumulated a 32-33 overall record.
