Prep Softball Report: Mount Carmel blasts Zachary at Denham Springs tourney

Defending Division I state champion Mount Carmel remained unbeaten, blasting Zachary 10-0 at the Denham Springs Tournament Friday.

Shelby Wickersham went the distance, pitching a one-hitter and struck out 10 Lady Broncos. Wickersham drove in three runs, Addison Grundmeyer drove in three runs and Abby Alonzo had a double and two RBI for the Cubs (2-0). Mount Carmel opened its season with a 6-5 win over Parkview Baptist last Monday.

Mount Carmel plays twice today in the tournament, beginning at against Mandeville at 10 a.m. before taking on Central at 2 p.m.
