NATCHITOCHES — High schools from across the state will come together and compete in the Pre-State Cross Country Meet hosted by Northwestern State this Saturday.

The girls race will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the boys race will follow at 10:15 a.m.

Five schools with 90 entries in total are registered to compete on Saturday, including Barbe, Catholic Baton Rouge, Natchitoches Central, Cedar Creek, and Neegret.

The athletes will get a preview of the same course that they will race on at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s state meet next month.

The three-mile course is all grass until the last 300 meters that finish on the track. The course only contains one short hill 2.5 miles into the race.

Check-in for athletes is from 8:30-9:15 a.m. inside the track complex.

The spectator entrance is free and is through the soccer complex’s main gate.

Live results will be available, provided by Adkins Trak Timing.
