Plaquemine head football coach Paul Distefano takes medical leave
Crescent City Sports Has learned that Plaquemine head football coach Paul Distefano has taken a medical leave of absence from his duties. It is a three-month leave from the school.
Former Tara and East Iberville head coach Ron Lejeune, who has been with the program in a pair of stints sandwiched around his three-year stint at East Iberville from 2017-2019, has assumed the role of interim head coach.
Lejeune assumed the role last week when the Green Devils (3-4, 2-2) defeated Broadmoor (0-8, 0-4). Plaquemine then handed Liberty High School (6-1, 4-1) their first loss of the season, 53-34.
The Green Devils will next face the St. Michael Warriors (4-3, 3-1) on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Olympia Stadium in Baton Rouge.
