St. Michael head coach Justin Hutchinson before the game spoke almost as if he had a crystal ball.

“If we can stop shooting ourselves in the foot with big plays, we can give ourselves a better chance.”

Unfortunately for the Warriors, the reverse happened again Friday night. The big plays Hutchinson warned about showed up for Plaquemine in 35-0 victory.

Green Devils running back Wayne Toussant led a 99 yard drive and capped it off with a 57 yard touchdown run. Toussant also started the second half off with a 78 yard kick return for a score.

Plaquemine quarterback Michael Sproles also ran in a score by himself. In a game which seemed to have no completed passes, it was the running attack from both teams which dominated the action.

St. Michael started strong and focused with their running game led by Lance Robertson looking strong at times, but costly penalties killed one drive and turnovers halted two others.
