FRISCO, Texas – Seniors Scott Plaisance Jr. and Ezekiel Charles were named to the Southland Conference’s All-Academic team Wednesday. The duo appeared on the second team and UNO was one of three conference programs to feature multiple student-athletes on the all-academic teams.

The Southland Conference awards committee, which consists of one administrator from each of the 13 member universities, voted for the student-athlete of the year. The Southland student-athlete of the year award is presented to one student-athlete who achieves excellence in both academics and athletics. All nominees shall have earned at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least two years at the nominating institution.

CoSIDA Academic All-District/All-American selections and First Team All-Conference athletes who meet all-academic nomination criteria are automatically named First Team All-Academic.

Capping off his career with a Southland All-Tournament team selection, Plaisance Jr. received his bachelors in December and is working on his master’s. His undergraduate GPA was 3.47.

In his second season on the Lakefront, Charles led the Privateers in scoring and rebounding and boasts a 3.26 GPA. Zeke received third team all-conference honors.
