NBA Draft Lottery

The New Orleans Pelicans will picked 14th in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft as expected.

With the best regular season record among the 14 teams in Tuesday’s NBA draft lottery, the Pelicans had just a 2.4 percent chance of moving up to a top-four pick. It did not happen.

The San Antonio Spurs won this year’s lottery, making them likely to select 7-foot-5 French prospect Victor Wembanyama.

New Orleans defied the odds and landed the first overall pick twice in the past, drafting Anthony Davis and Zion Williamson.

With a mid-first rounder this year and deep roster including a slew of young player chosen in the past couple of years, it remains to be seen whether the Pelicans will keep the pick.
