Pelicans duo Jones, Murphy join Baton Rouge native Galloway, ex-LSU forward Reid on 2023 USA Basketball Men’s Select Team
NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Pelicans guard Herb Jones and forward Trey Murphy III have been named to the 2023 USA Basketball Men’s Select Team, USA Basketball announced today.
The Select Team will practice with 🇺🇸 #USABMNT from Aug. 3-6 in Las Vegas.

The Select Team will train August 3-6 with the USA Men’s National Team during its training camp in Las Vegas, Nevada ahead of the FBIA World Cup. The Select Team will also join Team USA in the Philippines as potential injury replacements before the World Cup begins.
Joining Jones and Murphy III on the Select Team are Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Jalen Duren (Detroit Pistons), Langston Galloway, Jalen Green (Houston Rockets), Quentin Grimes (New York Knicks), Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder), John Jenkins (G League Ignite, Vanderbilt), Eric Mika (G League Ignite, BYU), Keegan Murray (Sacramento Kings), Payton Pritchard (Boston Celtics), Naz Reid (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Jaylen Williams (Oklahoma City Thunder).
Galloway is a former Pelicans guard out of Baton Rouge who played 55 games for New Orleans during the 2016-17 season. Reid played one season at LSU before embarking on his professional career, earning Freshman All-SEC honors with the Tigers in 2018-19.
The USA Select Team roster consists of 11 current NBA players plus three veteran players with NBA, NBA G League, international and USA Basketball experience.
Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley is the head coach of the Select Team. Indiana Pacers assistant coach Jim Boylen, who served as head coach of the February 2022 and November 2021 USA Basketball World Cup Qualifying Teams, joins Purdue head coach Matt Painter as the Select Team assistant coaches.
