Peck’s Seafood edges PJP, Terry’s Oysters turns it on late to down Refuel

It was tight, a pitcher’s duel from the start.

In the end, Northshore-based Peck’s Seafood edged Pope John Paul II 2-1 in Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League play Monday at Northshore.

Peck’s Seafood broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth before the Jaguars tied it with a run in the top of the sixth. The Jaguars won it with an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth.

The game featured just seven hits combined.

Hayden Wingrave got the win in relief for Peck’s Seafood (2-1), going 1.1 innings, retiring all four batters he faced. Noah Lasseigne started and pitched four shutout innings, allowing four hits. Lasseigne walked two and struck out four. Ayden Strecker pitched 1.2 innings, allowing an unearned run before giving way to Wingrave. Ethan Freeman had a hit and an RBI for Peck’s.

Logan Marble took the loss in relief for Pope John Paul II (0-2-1), going 2.1 innings, allowing just the unearned run. Kade Lacoste started, going 3.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit with two walks and seven strikeouts. Lacoste had a double for the Jaguars.

Belle Chasse-based Terry’s Oysters turned up the offense late to down Archbishop Shaw-based Refuel 11-5 in Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League action Monday at Winterscheidt Field.

The Eagles (0-3) took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning but the Cardinals tied it with four runs in the top of the third. Refuel recaptured the lead at 5-4 with a run in the fourth but it was all Terry’s Oysters the rest of the way.

The Cardinals (1-2) then took control, scoring three runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and a final run in the seventh inning.

Blaise Galmiche had three hits and two RBI, Christian Mouriz had two hits and an RBI, Jacob Black tripled and drove in two runs, Tate Dickinson drove in two runs, Kaleb Wallace had a hit and an RBI and Ian Fletcher had two hits and a run scored. Gavin Rubio picked up the win in relief, going four innings, allowing just one run on one hit. Rubio walked three and struck out six.

Cameron Bolden had a hit and two RBI, Gavin Richard had a hit and an RBI and Nathan Billiot had two hits for Refuel.
