The Patrick Taylor Lady Tigers track and field squad ran, jumped and threw themselves to victory over a quality field by over 40 points while missing several runners who were attending the Mu Alpha Theta conference in Baton Rouge.

East Iberville placed second and Country Day was third.

The Lady Tigers scored a meet-high 194 points, and eighth grader Gabby Alphonse earned meet MVP honors by totaling 28.5 points from winning the triple jump, 100 meter hurdles and the 4×100 meter relay (running the lead leg for the winning Taylor team).

Sophomore Erin Wallace won the Javelin and placed second in the shot put. Senior Aaliyah Edinburgh captured the 400 meters and seventh Grader Amairi Ashford won the 200 meters; both ran on both sprint relays.

“The girls are really working hard and challenging each other at practices and meets. The coaches have a lot of respect for our track athletes because we have to travel to either West Jeff or Johnny Jacobs to practice every day. These ladies are committed to themselves, the school, and the team. We could not be happier or have more respect for their effort,” stated Taylor coach James Potter.

The Lady Tigers will see action again this Wednesday at the Fisher Invitational.
