Mikaylah Williams

Parkway’s Mikaylah Williams, the No. 1 Class of 2023 women’s basketball recruit in the country, committed Friday to LSU.

Williams also had Ole Miss, Baylor, Duke and Texas A&M among her finalists.

The 6-foot-1 standout averaged 22.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game as a junior, earning Class 5A Most Valuable Player and Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year honors.

The news is nothing new for second-year Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey, who secured top overall recruits Brittney Griner and Lauren Cox in past classes at Baylor on her way to winning national titles.

However, Williams is poised to be the second top overall ranked signee in the history of LSU’s program, joining another in-state product. Semoine Augustus, a Capitol High product, inked with the Purple and Gold in 2002
