Did Sunday’s game go according to plan with how you wanted to use Alvin (Kamara) in his return to the playing field?
“When you have 40 snaps before you get into your hurry up offense, it didn’t go according to plan really in any area. So I would say no.”

I guess a better way to phrase that would be, how did you want to use Alvin (Kamara) when he came back?
“We’ll see. Week to week. Are you wanting to talk about Tampa or are you still wanting to go back to last week on Thursday?”

With the offense, are you generating enough explosive, downfield plays right now or is that something you want more of out of your team?
“More of than we just had. We’re kind of in the middle of the pack that way, but clearly in the last game we didn’t do much of anything well.”

You had a number of candidates going for that backup sort of guard-center spot this offseason. What did Will Clapp do to sort of emerge and be the guy you’ve used most so far this year?
“It was challenging between he and Nick (Easton). Both of them have their strengths and I think that Will (Clapp) was going to also play some jumbo tight end for us. We felt one was stronger at the center. Both of them had played guard and we’ve had eight linemen up at times, but then other times seven. It’s been something that we spent a lot of time discussing and both of them have gotten a lot of practice snaps at.”

Did he make one of those second-year leaps though that you guys talked a lot about with players? I know some people have said he really came in in better shape it seems like this year.
“Yeah. I thought he had good training camp.”

I know it’s not a need for your team at all, but will you pay attention at all to the workout that Collin (Kaepernick) is having over in Atlanta this weekend or your scouting department?
“I won’t pay attention to it because it isn’t a need for us.”
