ST. LOUIS — Lindsey Wilson’s Madison Bidwell and Radaisy Valdez combined for 20 kills and a .500 hitting percentage Saturday in a 25-7, 25-20, 25-15 volleyball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana at Missouri Baptist’s Spartan Invitational.

XULA finished 0-3 in the two-day tournament — all its matches were against ranked opponents — and is 0-4 overall. The Gold Nuggets will travel to Pineville, La., next Saturday for their first-ever Red River Athletic Conference match — 1 p.m. against Louisiana College.

Lindsey Wilson, ranked 20th in the NAIA, finished 2-1 in this event and is 9-2 overall.

Bidwell and Valdez had 10 kills apiece. Bidwell hit .562, and Valdez — who began the day as the NAIA leader in hitting percentage — hit .444.

The Blue Raiders were stellar defensively, too. They limited XULA to a minus-.020 hitting percentage.

Kennedy Wade had eight kills, eight digs, an ace and a block for XULA. Taylor McGee had five kills and three blocks. Kendall Mack produced a match-high five blocks, Emi Riglioni served two aces, and Linda Mungai had 11 digs.

XULA led 13-12 in the second set and 7-2 in the third. In the final set four consecutive XULA attack errors concluded an 8-0 run that put Lindsey Wilson ahead to stay.
