FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University softball pitcher Megan Landry was selected as Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

After having its season opener pushed back a week due to weather, Nicholls claimed three wins this weekend in the Black and Gold Tournament, and Landry played a key role. The junior standout from Central Catholic posted a 2-0 record with a 0.46 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work. She allowed just one run and six hits for an opponent batting average of .118.

In her season debut, Landry struck out 10 batters in six innings for the win against Appalachian State. She then shut out Akron and fanned five to give her a second win in as many starts. On Sunday against Middle Tennessee, she came in for relief and struck out six while allowing just one hit to the Blue Raiders, who were undefeated for the weekend and racked up 52 hits.

Landry, a Third Team All-Southland honoree, was a three-time SLC pitcher of the week last season.

Following Tuesday’s doubleheader at Alcorn State, the Colonels head to Florida for five games in the EMU Madeira Beach Tournament.
