FRISCO, Texas — Wednesday afternoon, the Southland Conference announced Nicholls State University sophomore Tyler Theriot as the league’s Pitcher of the Week, a first for both the program this season and the second-year southpaw ace.

The Brusly, La. native managed two exceptional starts across five days, initially earning a 4-2 signature victory over No. 11 LSU in Wednesday evening’s midweek matchup before laying the foundation in the Colonels’ eventual walkoff win over conference rival McNeese late Monday afternoon. All said, the sophomore finished with 13 strikeouts across an unyielding 12.0 innings of work, surrendering just three runs on nine hits while walking a combined six batters.

Following a nearly non-stop schedule across the opening two weeks, the Colonels receive a well-deserved few days off before hosting a four-game series against LIU, set for Friday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, Mar. 1 at Ray E. Didier Field.
