THIBDOAUX, La. – The Nicholls Colonels made a three-run fourth inning hold up as they held off the New Orleans Privateers 6-4 on Saturday night at Ray E. Didier Field.

DECISIONS
Tyler Theriot retired 16 straight at one point and threw seven innings while allowing four runs on five hits. Brandon Mitchell took the loss after allowing six runs in 3.1 innings of work. Chase Gearing picked up his fourth save of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers got to Theriot early as they strung together a pair of singles to start the first before an Anthony Herron Jr. sac fly put the Privateers up a run after the top of the first.

Nicholls responded when Garrett Felix cleared the bases with a three-run double down the third base line. However, the Privateers came right back to tie the game up in the second on an RBI groundout and an Issac Williams double.

The Colonels went ahead for good when Parker Coddou singled through the left side to bring in a run. A two-run single from Dane Simon back up the middle put the Colonels ahead 6-3.

After Williams notched a two-out RBI single to cut the deficit to two, the Privateers got the tying run to second with two outs. A groundout induced by Gearing where Coddou ranged over to his right ended the threat in the eighth. Gearing retired the side in the ninth to preserve the win for the Colonels who are now 11-6 in conference.

INSIDE THE BOX
Caleb Seroski struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings. Williams went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Kasten Furr, Amani Larry and Travis Gober each had a hit.
