FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University junior guard Cassidy Barrios has been selected as Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Barrios was outstanding in the Colonels’ opener at SMU Friday, leading Nicholls to a near upset in a 68-61 decision. The Raceland, Louisiana native racked up 18 points on 4 of 10 from the field and 9 of 10 at the free throw line while collecting a career-high 16 rebounds for her ninth double-double. Her 16 rebounds were the most for a Colonel since Alisha Allen had 17 against UT Arlington on Jan. 7, 2012.

Barrios and the Colonels open their home schedule tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 14) against Spring Hill College. Tipoff against the Badgers is scheduled for 6 p.m.
