THIBODAUX, La. – Wednesday afternoon, Nicholls State University head baseball coach Mike Silva announced Cody Livingston as the second addition to his staff since taking over the program just under a month ago, tasking the Brandon, Miss. native as the Colonels’ new pitching coach, pending approval from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

“I am extremely honored to be a part of the Nicholls family,” Livingston said. “I am thankful to Mike Silva for trusting me with the opportunity to help bring further success to such a historic program. I am excited to get to Thibodaux and eager to get after it with our guys.”

Prior to taking the assistant position with the Red & Gray, Livingston served as an assistant coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for two seasons from 2020-21, helping lead the Bulldogs to one postseason appearance this past year. Throughout the 2021 campaign, Livingston coached an All-NJCAA Region 23 team selection, two All-MACCC first-team selections and three All-MACCC honorable mentions. Over the course of his two seasons with Mississippi Gulf Coast, Livingston also guided 17 student-athletes to placement on collegiate programs at the next level.

Before joining Mississippi Gulf Coast, Livingston spent two years as an assistant at Arkansas-Little Rock from 2018-19, assisting the Trojans with the pitching staff, offense and outfielders. During his final season with the team, UALR won the most games since 2010 (29), good for third-most in program history, as the Trojans managed to secure a second-place finish in the Sun Belt Conference. The year prior, Livingston assisted the 2018 Little Rock squad to their first postseason victory since 2011.

While a member of the Trojan coaching staff, Livingston coached three first-team All-Sun Belt honorees and helped six players advance their career to the professional level.

For four seasons from 2012-16, Livingston competed as a member of the Southern Mississippi baseball program, serving as a key component of two C-USA Championships. Additionally, he was also awarded the Colonel Fletcher Leadership award following his senior campaign.

Livingston received both his Bachelor of Sport Management and Master of Science in Sport Management from the University of Southern Mississippi. He currently resides in Thibodaux, La.
