Southeastern Enters Home Opener Ranked 23rd in Stats Perform FCS Top 25

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team enters the spring 2021 home opener ranked No. 23 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 released on Monday.

Southeastern, which was ranked 18th in last Monday’s poll, dropped five spots after a narrow 43-38 loss to Sam Houston in a high-scoring season opener on Saturday. The Lions have been in the Stats Perform Top 25 every week dating back to Nov. 11, 2019.

SLU is one of three Southland teams listed in Monday’s poll. Sam Houston State climbed five spots to No. 12, while Nicholls moved up two slots to No. 7. UIW and McNeese are among those receiving votes.

Also on Monday, Lion junior wide receiver CJ Turner, who finished with 11 catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday, was an honorable mention choice for Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week.

The Lions host McNeese at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Strawberry Stadium to open their home slate. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU-FM (90.9), Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
