NEW ORLEANS – The 2022-23 schedule for the Privateers women’s basketball program includes 10 non-conference games (two at home) and a Southland slate that begins on the day before the calendar turns to the new year.

The regular season opens on Nov. 7 when the Privateers head to UTEP. It’s the first time the Privateers will play the Miners since defeating them in 1990.

Then New Orleans comes home for one of their two non-conference bouts at the Lakefront Arena when they face a familiar foe in South Alabama on Nov. 14. After that point, seven of the next eight are on the road in five different states.

New Orleans will travel to Grambling, Alcorn State, Wichita State and LSU over the next four. The second home date of the season pops up on Dec. 14 against Mississippi Valley State. Then a northeast swing hits when the Privateers visit Rutgers and Hofstra, neither of whom the Privateers have played previously in their history.

The Southland schedule starts on New Year’s Eve when New Orleans visits HBU. The Privateers then return home to face Lamar in the first game of 2023 on Jan. 5. The conference schedule is more front loaded with home games.

Five of the last seven contests of the regular season for the Privateers are on the road starting with Nicholls on Feb. 9. The season ends with a road swing at Lamar (Feb. 25) and at McNeese (Mar. 1). That sets the stage for the Southland Tournament.

The tournament shifts to Lake Charles in McNeese’s Legacy Center where it will be played March 6-9.
