New Orleans, Omaha split cold-weather doubleheader

OMAHA – The New Orleans Baby Cakes and Omaha Storm Chasers split a Saturday afternoon doubleheader on chilly day in Nebraska. New Orleans won game one 8-2 and dropped the second contest 4-3.

Isaac Galloway and Gabriel Guerrero each had three hits and Yadiel Rivera and Deven Marrero added a pair of runs driven in during the ‘Cakes 8-2 win. New Orleans led 3-1 and sent eleven hitters to the plate in the seventh inning, adding five runs.

Hector Noesi earned the win for the ‘Cakes, pitching five innings allowing no runs on three hits.

In the second game, Omaha scored a pair of runs in the first inning. Chasers starter Ben Lively pitched five innings and allowed one run on two hits in earning the win.

The Chasers led the game 4-1 and in the seventh inning Galloway hammered a pinch hit two run home run to cut the lead to 4-3.

Tim Hill retired the final out for his first save of the season.

The ‘Cakes and Chasers continue the series with an afternoon game on Sunday at 2 p.m.
