New Orleans defeats Buffalo 12-3 to improve to 2-0 in AAABA Tournament play
JOHNSTOWN, Penn. – The New Orleans Boosters defeated Buffalo (Royal Printing) 12-3 Tuesday in the 75th annual All-American Amateur Baseball Association Tournament.
New Orleans scored the first run of the game in the first when Brandon Duhon reached on a walk and scored on an error. Buffalo tied the game in the second on a Booster error and took a 3-1 lead in the fifth following a four hit frame.
The Boosters batted around in the seventh, starting when Branyan Bounds and Matt Barthelemy reached on a walks and scored on a single by Michael Stutes to tie the game 3-3. Grant Schulz singled for two additional runs before Brayden Jobert’s homerun gave New Orleans a 7-3 lead.
Brandon Duhon scored in the eighth for an eighth run before a four run ninth inning gave New Orleans a 12-3 lead. Schulz’s second two RBI single of the day closed the scoring.
Blake Marshall (2.2 IP) earned the win in relief of starter Daniel Dugas, who went 5.1 innings. Dwain Varisco closed the game in the ninth.
New Orleans (2-0) will face Brooklyn on Wednesday in the final round of pool play. The the top two teams from each of the four pools advances to a single elimination bracket beginning Thursday.
This summer marks the New Orleans franchise’s 73rd year as a franchise of the AAABA. The Boosters closed the 2018 tournament as national runner up to Johnstown Martella’s.
