“We’re excited to take this next major step in the development of a new USFL,” said Brian Woods, USFL President of Football Operations. “These eight teams form the core of our initial league membership and will represent an exciting brand of professional football coming this spring. We look forward to the start of our inaugural season.”

The USFL’s city affiliations, team names, and logos were revealed during today’s edition of The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FS1.

In 2022, the USFL’s eight teams will play in one host city, the identity of which the new league will announce shortly. The teams will be split evenly between a North Division and South Division. The Michigan, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh teams form the North Division, while Birmingham, Houston, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay teams comprise the South Division.

Each team will play a 10-game schedule, followed by semifinals between the top two teams in each division, and a championship game between division winners. FOX Sports will serve as an official broadcast partner of the new USFL.

Last week, the USFL named Brian Woods, a league co-founder, President of Football Operations; former Dallas Cowboys standout and longtime NFL on FOX game analyst Daryl Johnston, Executive Vice President, Football Operations; former NFL Vice President of Officiating and FOX Sports’ NFL and college football rules analyst Mike Pereira, Head of Officiating; and FOX Sports’ Edward Hartman, Executive Vice President, Business Operations.

The USFL is a new, independent football league controlled by FOX Sports through NSFL HoldCo, LLC, a new business entity, and it is not associated or affiliated with the USFL of the 1980s or its owners. For more information, visit http://USFL2.com and follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
