New Orleans born Craig Perret selected for National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame

Craig Perret

Legendary jockey Craig Perret is among the 16-member 2019 class for induction into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame.

Perret won the 1987 Belmont Stakes on Bet Twice and the 1990 Kentucky Derby aboard Unbridled. He also was given the 1990 Eclipse Award as the best jockey in the nation. He was inducted into the Fair Grounds Hall of Fame (1994) and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (2006).

Born in New Orleans, the 68-year old Perret won 4,415 races in his illustrious career from 1967-2005.

The induction ceremonies are set for Friday, Aug. 2 in Lexington, Kentucky.
