Brother Martin High School previously announced this year that four members of the Crusader family will be taking on new leadership roles in the Athletics Department for the 2017-2018 school year.  Current principal Greg Rando ‘77, in announcing the news, said, “As part of our call to meet the needs of a changing world, we are confident that our colleagues will not only fulfill, but also advance the continuing mission of Brother Martin High School.“

Jeff Lupo ‘92, currently the Assistant Baseball Coach, has been named the Head Baseball Coach for the 2017-2018 school year. Lupo has been a devoted member of the faculty and coaching staff for 20 years, during which time he has ably served in both the baseball and football programs.  In his time on the baseball coaching staff, he has been instrumental in the success of over 50 All-District players, several of whom have also been honored at the All-State level.

As head coach, Lupo will bring the same passion and expertise in working with our student-athletes that he has demonstrated in each of his varied roles at Brother Martin. In regard to his new position, Lupo said, “It is a true honor to be named the head coach at my alma mater, Brother Martin. Replacing [former Head Baseball Coach] Mark Wisniewski is no easy task, but I will do my best to continue the strong leadership of this program, along with the best players and coaches in the state.”

Finally, the Athletics Department welcomes Mark Wisniewski ‘81 and Mark Bonis to take on new and important leadership responsibilities. Wisniewski, a valued member of the faculty since 1990, will assume the position of Athletics Director. In his time at Brother Martin, he has been a model of the school’s mission of evangelizing young men, serving as Assistant Disciplinarian, the Health/PE department chair, and Head Baseball Coach, where he amassed 400 career wins and was an assistant on the 1996 state championship team.

Working alongside Mr. Wisniewski, Mark Bonis has been named Assistant Athletics Director for the 2017-2018 school year. Bonis has been a member of Brother Martin’s faculty since 2006, where he taught both Social Studies and was department chair for Health and PE, while also serving as Head Football Coach, a role in which he will continue.

Scott Williams, current Athletics Director, will be transitioning into the Facilities Department as Assistant Facilities Director and Assistant Project Manager for upcoming campus initiatives. In addition, Drew Haro ‘03 will take on the role of Head Cross Country Coach. Haro joined the Brother Martin faculty in 2013, where he has since served as a teacher in both the Religion and English departments, a member of the Campus Ministry team, and the current Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach. In particular, his guidance has been instrumental in this year’s Cross Country success, as the team captured both a District and Regional title.

Considering his new responsibilities, Haro stated, “As an alumnus of Brother Martin and the cross country program, I’m extremely humbled and honored to have the opportunity to be the fourth head coach of the Crusader Harriers. The high program standards that Coaches Schommer, Panepinto, and Gallagher set before me are ones that I plan to carry on with the help of a supportive school leadership team and coaching staff.”
