NOLA Gold Rugby lost its first match of the 2023 MLR Season on Friday, falling short to the New England Free Jacks at the Shrine on Airline. With a final score of 36-12, the Free Jacks won in a decisive way.

It was a thrilling contest throughout, with key plays made by Jarred Adams and Moni Tongauiha.

The pinnacle of the Gold’s play came in the 15th minute, as Adams took the ball over the try line by way of a rumbling run to the delight of home supporters. Unfortunately, the Gold could not maintain this positive momentum until the end of the contest to finish it with a win.

Now 0-1 on the season, the Gold will have to pick themselves up and try to build on the positives from the match. Looking ahead to the next fixture, the Gold will focus their attention on a February 25th encounter in Houston versus the SaberCats.
