Miami Dolphins released Ndamukong Suh on the opening day of NFL free agency, and the rest of the league too notice that perhaps the most dominant defensive tackle in football was available.

Now it appears the Saints may have set up a good shot at signing him.

Suh will visit New Orleans on Friday, NFL Network’s Jane Slater first confirmed Thursday:

The five-time Pro Bowl selection has 51.5 career sacks but comes with a reputation of having a difficult personality on- and off-the-field at times. As Slater mentions, both sides need to see if they can fit together moving forward.

As for the money it would take to sign the 31-year old Suh, it appears he is seeking a contract that averages at least $12 million per season and perhaps significantly more.

If the Saints add Suh to a defensive front that already features All-Pro end Cam Jordan, the defense in New Orleans could suddenly mirror the team’s offense as one of the NFL’s top units.
