Naz Reid scores 29 in No. 21 LSU’s overtime win at Mississippi State

STARKVILLE – The LSU men’s basketball team prevailed late in a 92-88 win against Mississippi State Wednesday night in the Humphrey Coliseum. The Tigers trailed for more than 30 minutes, but came back late to force overtime and come away with a fifth SEC road victory in as many games.

LSU’s Naz Reid hit a three to seal the game in overtime with under 12 seconds left. With the win, the Tigers improve to 18-4, 8-1 in SEC, while the Bulldogs fell to 16-6, 4-5 in the SEC.

Freshman forward Naz Reid had a game-high 29 points for the Tigers. He also recorded nine rebounds, two assists and a block. Sophomore guard Tremont Waters scored 26 for the Tigers. He also picked up four rebounds, five assists and five steals. Senior forward Kavell Bigby-Williams scored 14 and compiled a game high 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Javonte Smart put up nine points to go along with three assists.

Senior guard Quinndary Weatherspoon had a team high 27 points for the Bulldogs. He also managed two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Freshman forward Reggie Perry had a team high 10 rebounds to complement 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Nick Weatherspoon also played a significant role for the Bulldogs with eight points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Next on the schedule, the Tigers return to Baton Rouge for a 1 p.m. tip Saturday against Auburn.
