NASH ICON 106.1 FM to broadcast De La Salle-St. Thomas More title game

The Division II state championship game pitting No. 1 seed De La Salle against No. 2 St. Thomas More will be broadcast on NASH ICON 106.1 FM on Monday night in Natchitoches.

The game broadcast is presented by De La Salle alumni Charley Hassinger, Rod Williams, Rizzuto’s Ristorante, The Duke Academy, lawyer David Courcelle, Lee Merritt, the De La Salle Alumni Association Board, the De La Salle Parent Club and Dr. Myles Seghers.

Listen live via www.nashfm1061.com and through the NASH ICON 106.1 FM app. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Turpin Stadium on the campus of Northwestern State University.

Ken Trahan of CrescentCitySports.com and Cumulus New Orleans will have the call of the game, along with Justin Manale of De La Salle and Cavalier alumnus Randy Pistorius of Crescent City Sports.

De La Salle (9-0) advanced with a 42-2 semifinal win over No. 5 E.D. White Catholic. The Cavaliers have allowed just 6.1 points per game and have posted three shutouts.

Defensive lineman Ja’Marian Peterson has 39 tackles, including eight sacks. Sophomore linebacker Michael Thomas leads the Cavaliers with 41 tackles.

Senior running back Montrell Johnson has rushed for 1,067 yards and six touchdowns. Junior quarterback Cole Milford has thrown for 1,029 yards and 15 touchdowns with no interceptions. Milford has rushed for 220 yards and seven touchdowns.

St. Thomas More (9-0) advanced with a 31-23 victory over No. 3 University High in the semifinals.

The Cougars average 46.4 points per game, led by junior quarterback Walker Howard. The LSU commit has completed 66 percent of his passes for 3,049 yards and 35 touchdowns while rushing for three scores. LSU signee Jack Bech has 59 catches for 1,159 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Senior linebacker Bryce Boullion leads the Cougars in tackles with 71 tackles, including three for loss. Sophomore free safety Nicholas Beckwith has a team-high four interceptions plus 43 tackles.

The game is a rematch of last year’s Division II championship when St. Thomas More easily handled De La Salle, 58-10.
