More local area football teams spring into action for first time Thursday night

Several greater New Orleans area football teams play Thursday night, including many for the first time in the regular season due to Hurricane Ida.

Archbishop Hannan will square off with Ascension Catholic at 7 p.m. at Pearl River High School.

It is the first game each for the Hawks and the Bulldogs.

Archbishop Rummel and Slidell meet at Lakeshore High School in a game to be aired live on NASH ICON 106.1 FM. The Raiders have yet to play while the Tigers lost their only game, ironically as the road team at Lakeshore.

Booker T. Washington and McMain will square off at 7:30 p.m. at Pan American Stadium.

It is the first game each for the Lions and the Mustangs.

Brother Martin plays its first game of the season, at Dutchtown against East Ascension. The Spartans opened their season with a 39-20 loss at Scotlandville last week. The Crusaders earned the top seed in Division I and reached the semifinals a year ago.

Landry will play its first game of the season as the Chargin’ Bucs take on St. James at Mumford Stadium on the campus of Southern University. The Wildcats won their opener 37-27 at Archbishop Shaw last Saturday.
