Mississippi State QB Keytaon Thompson enters transfer portal
Former Landry-Walker quarterback entered the NCAA transfer portal, Al.com first reported Friday.
When head coach Joe Moorhead named Penn State transfer Tommy Stevens as the Bulldogs starting quarterback Thursday, the writing was on the wall for the junior who led the Charging Bucs to the 2016 LHSAA Class 5A state championship.
Thompson, a former 4 star recruit, served as the backup at Mississippi State for multi-year starter Nick Fitzgerald in each of the past two seasons. In 19 career games, Thompson has completed 50-of-105 passes for 846 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed 99 times for 692 yards and 10 scores.
Thompson has the option to use his redshirt season this year to transfer to another FBS program and have two year sof eligibility remaining. He also can play immediately at a FCs school.
