NEW ORLEANS – Christion Thompson led all scorers with 24 points and Teshaun Hightower added 23 more, as the Tulane men’s basketball team cruised to a 93-55 exhibition win over Spring Hill College on Thursday night at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

Thompson shot 8 of 13 overall and 4 of 6 from 3-point range to go with six rebounds, as Hightower went 9 of 12 from the field and dished out six assists.

K.J. Lawson chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals while going 5 of 6 beyond the 3-point arc. Jordan Walker compiled nine points, a game-high seven assists and three steals while committing no turnovers.

Defensively, Tulane forced 23 turnovers and held the Badgers to 34.4 percent shooting, while owning a 42-35 edge on the glass.

The Green Wave got the night started with an 11-2 scoring run sparked by ball movement and impressive transition offense.

The Wave led for all but 45 seconds in the entire game and closed the first half by making their final six shots, including four 3s, to head into halftime with a 43-29 advantage.

Tulane shot 50 percent from the floor (17 of 34) and made seven treys in the first half, while outscoring the Badgers, 18-4, on fast breaks.

The Green Wave defense picked up steam in the second half, as Spring Hill shot just over 31 percent overall, allowing the Wave to nearly double the scoring output of the opposition, 50-26, in the final 20 minutes.

Tulane built its lead to as many as 41 with the score 88-47 after a breakaway windmill dunk by Kevin Zhang with 5:05 left in the game.

The Green Wave open the regular season at home on Wednesday, November 6 against Southeastern Louisiana. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
