Memphis downs Tulane to open series, 11-3

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team suffered an 11-3 loss in the series opener versus Memphis on Thursday night inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

Tulane collected five hits and left seven on the bases while Memphis totaled 15 hits on the evening.

The Wave was scoreless through the first three innings with Memphis taking a quick 7-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth frame. Tulane would get their first run of the game when Bennett Lee homered one out the left side of the stadium.

Jared Hard would get on base with a single through the left side, giving him the ability to score on Gavin Schulz’s double, bringing the score to 7-2.

Memphis would score four more in the seventh to extend the lead to 11-2. The Wave would only put one more on the board at the bottom of the ninth dropping the game 11-3.

Dylan Carmouche gets the loss bringing him to 5-4 on the year. Carmouche worked 1.2 innings giving up seven hits and five earned runs.

The Tigers Landon Gartman gets the win, improving to 6-1 on the year.

Keaton Knueppel will get the start for the Wave on Friday.
