LAKE CHARLES – McNeese redshirt freshman linebacker Micah Davey has been named to the inaugural Bluebloods FCS All-Freshman Team, one of only 27 freshman standouts in the nation to receive the honor from across the country that includes players from 12 of the 15 FCS conferences.

The native of Baton Rouge had a stellar first active season for the Cowboys, ranking second on the team with 68 total tackles and with eight tackles for a loss. He added one sack, forced two fumbles and returning one for a 78-yard touchdown, recorded a safety and broke up a pass.

He played in all 11 games on the season and started two, including the season finale against Lamar where he recorded a career-high 18 tackles, the most by a Cowboy on the year.

Davey recorded 10 or more tackles three times on the season – 10 at Rice, 10 at HCU and 18 against Lamar. His safety came in week three of the season against Alcorn State.

HCU defensive lineman Jacoby Brass and Nicholls DB Elis Ennis are the only other player from the Southland Conference to be named to the team.

To be eligible for the All-Freshman Team, players must be in their first or second academic year and cannot have participated in four or more games in the previous academic year.
