The Swamp at Florida

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese will visit the Florida Gators on September 9, 2023, it was announced Tuesday evening on the SEC Network.

It will be the first-ever visit to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, aka The Swamp, for the Cowboys.

“I’m excited to have the University of Florida on our schedule next season,” said McNeese Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer. “Anytime you get to play an SEC on national TV is a positive. These games help build our brand. I know our fans, donors and players will enjoy going to The Swamp and competing against one of the best programs in the country.”

Although it will be the first time the Cowboys and Gators will meet on the gridiron, it will be the third time for McNeese to go up against a sitting SEC team. The Cowboys have faced LSU twice, most recently to open the 2021 season.

The Cowboys dropped a 50-6 contest to Missouri in 2010 when the Tigers were in the Big 12, and in 2001, put a scare into Texas A&M, also of the Big 12 at the time, falling 38-24 after the Aggies scored late to pull away for the win.
