On the roster:
Returners – Darius Daniels, Andrew Hyacinth

Key Storyline – An almost entire new linebacker crew will hit the field in 2019.

Not a young team with the transfers coming in, but there will be several players that will be wearing the blue and gold for the first time.

Justin Jackson, a graduate transfer from Angelo State, earned All-American honors in 2017 and was the Lone Star Linebacker of the Year as he became just the 20th player in school history to record 100 or more tackles with his 113 stops.

Dorion Pollard, a transfer from Butler CC, arrived in the summer and will be hitting the Cowboy turf for the first when camp starts.

Transfers Kody Fulp and Carlos Scott were midyear transfers and went through spring practice. Both have some experience with the defense.

Darius Daniels and Andrew Hyancinth know the tradition about the McNeese defense and have done a good job of grasping the leadership roles.

There’s also a group of freshmen who will compete in camp as well such as Sulphur native Jake Lafleur who is a good athlete and is physical.

Rotation – The first two weeks of camp with be critical in seeing what each player can do and what linebacker position will be the most beneficial to the team.

Outlook – The linebacker position will have a lot of new faces this year but also has a lot of experience and talent, talent that’s made up of speed, power and awareness.
