McNeese downs Mississippi Valley State in midweek, 7-2

LAKE CHARLES – Tré Obregon had three hits including a sixth-inning, two-run home run to help lead McNeese to a 7-2 mid-week win over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday night.

The win was the fourth straight for the Cowboys and the ninth in the last 10 games as they improve to 12-5 overall. MVSU fell to 6-10.

McNeese returns to action this weekend when it hosts Yale of The Ivy League beginning Friday at 6.

Cowboys starter Kainin Morrow picked up the win and improved his record to 2-0 on the season. Making his second start on the season, Morrow threw five scoreless innings and allowed just three hits while striking out six.

McNeese scored a run in the second, two in the third, two in the sixth and single runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Braley Hollins added a 2-for-3 game with an RBI as the Cowboys put seven hits on the board.
